Perch! Napkin Rings

perch1.gifperch2.gif

For years, we perceived napkin rings as being a bit stuffy — the kind of thing our mothers and grandmothers would incorporate into a formal table setting. But these ceramic rings by Perch! have us seeing napkin rings in a new light.

Choose from two designs: boy/girl or the winged pattern. Both are available in a purple or green set of four ($52).

these aren't really for the transgender set, are they?

Actually, you can get some really funky napkin holders. A friend started a collection of antique silver ones. They look fabulous, even though not a single one is the same.

LOL - and the boy/girl comes in sets of 4, 2 boys and 2 girls.

Yup, you're asking for trouble with transgender folks, and unless you are a lesbian couple hosting a gay couple (or visa versa), you've got problems there too.

And if you're a singleton serving dinner to a same sex friend, it looks odd. And if your a hetrosexual serving dinner to the other sex you look horny.

Yup, trouble all around.

The winged set reminds me of Orla Kiely designs...
