Water Drop Teardrop Tealight Holder

Yesterday we posted about Vancouver-based furniture-maker Brook Design, and AT reader golflady noted some beautiful hanging glass tealights in one of the photos. We agreed that they were gorgeous, and thought we'd share a couple of options to recreate the look.

The first and closest, if not exact, option is the Water Drop Teardrop Tealight Holder from Secret Garden Flower and Gifts. It measures 8" tall by 4" wide, and costs $10.50.

CB2 also carries something similar — the Whirly Hanging Candleholder — for significantly less, $3.95 each. This is especially compelling if you plan on doing multiples like in the top photo, or below.

I love these and have been considering doing them in my bedroom, but I've never seen a photo of how they look actually attached to the ceiling....I was envisioning stapling them to a scrap of wood (1x3 maybe), painting it white, and drilling wood piece into ceiling. Would that work? I can't imagine they weigh very much...I also thought about having come out of a ceiling medallion...
Anyone have an real-life photos of this??

you are ambitious! I was thinking tie it to a hook/eye combo that will screw in to the ceiling?

These make great mini-terrariums. I've had my CB2 version of them hanging from hooks and fishline for 2 years. There's some small tan pebbles, a thin layer of charcoal and arrangements of tillandsia (air plants).
