Garbage Lamps: From Trash To Treasure

We came across these kitchen tools and appliances turned into lighting elements from a company called Garbage. We love the detail that is in each piece and the old patina on each found item that has been repurposed. Click through the jump for these pieces and a few more from this quaint little company.

Gilles Eichenbaum is the artist behind the Garbage name and takes everyday objects (preferably kitchen utensils) and gives them a face lift.

He removes them from their original use by giving them a pattern of holes or by just turning them upside down.

The juxtaposition of cold metal objects bringing great warmth and light is fantastic.

We found these at craft2eu which is a company that sells handmade crafts from artisans all across Europe.

At this time a phone call or an email will be required to have things shipped to the US. We hope to see these great products in the states soon!

Although we love the time and love that has gone into these great designs, we think this is a project that could be tackled in our own home from thrift store and garage sale finds.

After looking at the colander lamps I'd say the company who makes them is aptly named.

Thanks for posting. I just ordered a few wonderful **** via email after visiting the english website. I wasn´t surprised it´s craft2eu again - because they´re really known for their european research work and top quality results since years out here (over the pond).

And it´s nice to browse the catalogue again after I lost track for a couple of years somehow. A big recommendation if you´re looking for something "special" and unique. Thanks again!
