Wow, I didn't expect to see my console/sideboard front and center! This is in the corner of my living room - and I *try* to consistently put my keys and stuff in the top drawer when I come home.
No refinishing was required. Just a good rubdown with orange furniture oil to revive the piece which was looking a little dried up and dessicated. A retired couple were downsizing their possessions and this is something they bought when they were first married.
It's walnut. I think it was manufactured in the late 60s or early 70s by Broyhill.
