Good Finds: Kristin's Chairs

clistfind8-11.jpg
Dana sent us her best find -- well, actually her friend Kristin's best find -- and asks a question:

Hey, here's a photo of those mid-century chairs me and my friend Kristin found on Craigslist [a set of eight for 150 bucks]. They are the *most* beautiful chairs.. They have amazing bent wood backs with a hole at the base in the back. The cushions are yellow and definitely need replacing.

Do you know anything about these chairs? I keep forgetting to ask her to see if there are any marks on the bottom.

Thanks!
~Dana

Can anyone tell her about the chairs?

Send us photos of your best find!

They're probably not the same, but I saw some similar looking chairs at Ikea. They're part of a new chair and table set, and the chairs fit around the corners of the table. If you've seen it in the catalog on in the store, you probably know which set I'm thinking about. It's kind of an acorn color.

these look almost identical in shape to a vintage taskchair i have at home, which looks like a hybrid between MCM and space-age, so i'd put it mid to late 60's. it's got the same bentwood back, with a black vinyl seat and the typical metal task chair base (no casters). i'm racking my brain for the maker -- it's a really odd name, made somewhere in either the chicago or detroit area. i googled it when i got my chair and couldn't find anything, so i'm guessing it's not famous or sought after.

but it is lovely. my neighborhood antique shop has a matching dinette set with round white formica table and chairs that look identical to the ones pictured, except upholstered in yellow naugahyde. i covet it.

one day i will create the sort of home my parents wanted more than anything to escape from.
