It is so not Herman Miller.

I'd take it to an upholsterer and have it completely redone with a new cushion in a fabric that you enjoy - I recommend Retrospect on Market street who have just completed redoing my Eero Saarinen Executive Armchairs and will be delivering them to me tomorrow morning.

it could look neat if you got rid of the poufy leather stuff and had a cool fabric upholstery job for cushions, while keeping the body of it leather . . . maybe? and keep the bondage thing going on the arms somehow . . .

The chair was made by Overman. And by the styling looks to be from the 70's. These chairs were not typically made in leather. The material is most likely vinyl simulated to look like leather. These chairs go for about 200-500 depending on the condition. You should make a trip to the fabric district and find a material that looks like it and have a new cushion made. You won't get an exact match, but probably close enough.

It's not worthless. You can get a new cushion made.

I'd suggest what others have said -- if you love it, get some great felted wool or other gorgeous soft fabric and reupholster it. Honestly, the current upholstery isn't really all that great looking, but the chair has neat bones.

That sure doesn't look like Herman Miller. That looks like a 70s Hugh Hefner wannabe lounge chair.

I'd get a bright red comfy cushion (maybe to match the red in your rug underneath, or anther color in your living room), maybe a fun fabric, like crushed velvet, and a rounded mini throw to go on top of the chair that matches. Honestly, is it worth trying to re-upholster it? It's already funky; go with that.

Get an upholsterer to make you a new cushion covered in a toning or even contrasting material. Deep green velvet would look nice. A material in a colour that matches the leather would be good. Make sure that what ever you do your material is sumptious, and I don't think you'll miss the old cushion.

I dig the leather-esque covering. Even with the funny strapping on the arms - it adds character. Plus, a nice (faux) leather chair is so comfy.

i think you'll regret it later if you don't try to match the new cushion to the the rest...should be easy to get really close...

I'd just make a new cushion for it -- buy some foam, cut it to size, cover it in batting or some other liner, and make a pillow case for it. Maybe some really interesting fabric... red toned with a pattern? Stripes or what have you -- whatever you like and would go with your current decor.

No no no- definitely re-upholster! These chairs always have frumpy ass brown pleather on them, but the bones are good! Splurge a little on this chair and it will have a whole new life. Wools, patterns, and some bright colors would make this chair sing.

The chair is brilliant. All it needs is a sheepskin seat cushion. Check out Ikea's Ludde pelt.
