Good Questions: Bay Area Decorator to Mix Modern and Antique?
San Francisco

9-8-trunk.jpgAT:SF, I'm trying to find a Bay Area decorator/interior designer who will help me with a single large living room in my house. I find the mix of modern and antique furniture in this house quite appealing. I have a few pieces (new couch, old console) that I want to work into the room, but I feel like I need some help to make it great...

...Any recommendations for someone like Rebekah Sigfrids but who's local?

Thanks!

-Arielle

Anyone?

What about Swallowtail. It's a shop, but they offer interior design services.

Arielle--I'm an interior designer in the Bay Area who also loves antiques mixed with modern. I would offer to help but for my schedule. I suggest going to shops that sell antiques and/or modern furniture. Ask for the names of three designers they like. If those designers are too expensive, don't be afraid to say so and ask for recommendations of less experienced colleagues who may charge less.

Check out ASID:

Do an advanced search in your area and look at designer's websites. You want to make sure they are comfortable with the look you are after.

john wheatman and associates might be what you are looking for. check out the union street store and his books. he always has younger, and cheaper, people who share his aesthetic in the stable.
