Hi AT,
This is a two-part question.
First, do you know where I can find this white chair? I like the shape and color, but more importantly, that it doesn't have wheels.
I know it looks a lot like the Skruvsta chair from Ikea, which brings me to my second question: the chair has wheels. Do I have to put them on? Will I be damaging my carpet/the chair if I don't? Thanks!
-Sam
Dear Sam,
The chair looks like it's of a mid-century vintage, so you could search for upholstered swivel armchairs on eBay and see what comes up. (Also, we've contacted Urban Outfitters and await a reply.)
Casters are usually removable, but you might find them less harmful to your carpet than the exposed feet of Skruvsta's spider legs. We'd go to Ikea and check it out in person.
Anyone else?
Try a search for Overmann (I think two n's) chairs on ebay.
No, one n: "overman"
I've seen and used rubber/plastic caps or rods that you can place where the casters would attach. You still have a bit of a foot, but it's less objectionable than a full caster. I can't think of what they are called right off the top of my head, but if I were looking for them, I'd start my search at Home Depot.
Thanks!
Hi Sam, Alas, no love from Urban Outfitters. Here's their response:
"Unfortunately additional information is not available for this item. This item was purchased as a prop for our recent photo shoot. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
Since the Ikea chair seems to be more of an office chair I bet it is smaller and taller than this lounge chair. Here's a dirt-cheap alternative that is also a lounge chair, but I gotta warn you - it's pink!

Sam, I see these chairs periodically for sale on Craigslist. Keep an eye on Scavenger because I usually put them in there.
EQ3 also sells a chair that looks quite similar - in various colors including "parchment" - the TUB Swivel Chair.

It's IKEA, the wheels don't come attached to the base, so just don't plug them in and then it will look like the fabric version of the Skruvsta chair:

I have two of the white fabric ones and they are a lot of fun.
