Hi! I just bought this 1950's love seat--everything is original, even the gorgeous upholstery. I'm having trouble figuring out what chairs and rug will work well with it in our living room...

...I live in a Craftsman bungalow and would love for the style to complement the house, but don't want it to be too matchy-matchy. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Anyone?
ooh. You can have fun with that!
My first reaction is a rug like mine... fluffy cream colored shag to take the pepto edge off of the sofa... but that's just me.

Can't wait to see what you end up doing.

Very nice find! Because of the shape and fabric, I'd personally go full-tilt Hollywood Regency...
First I'd choose a pair of matching chairs like the Mckenzie Upholstered Wing Chair (to contrast the low sofa with some height) from Ballard Designs in the Arden Green fretwork fabric - and a big bright yellow rug like the Petal Rug from West Elm (and on sale!) . Then instead of a cocktail table, I'd go back to Ballard Designs and choose a pair of X-Bench upholstered stools in the Easycare Zebra microfiber fabric.
For end tables - I'd go vintage, or a pair of the West Elm octagon side tables - and a matching pair of vintage table lamps with oversized tall drum shades.
For fun, paint the walls a happy & bright spring green color - and leave the trim a bright white.
Enjoy!

For a chair to go with the mood of that loveseat without being too matchy-matchy I love the Slow Chair that was in a post here on AT recently.

It's modern but it has the same refined and delicate look, and I think you couldn't go wrong with any of the colors. In any case that color family (greys, browns, creams, burgundies) would be fantastic with your lovely loveseat.

Cute!!! Very femme, IMO.
I like these chair silhouettes with that couch. I say go with a fun, bold floral, OR, go with a minimalist cream.

I don't know how intent you are on leaving the original integrity of that sofa, but I think it would look even more gorgeous if you removed the ruffle from the bottom. And I agree with a cream rug and bpsf's Hollywood Regency theme... I hope you let us see the end result!

Go whimsical. It reminds me of a little girl's birthday cake.

I agree about removing the skirt- I think that would be a grat change!

I think clear like the ghost chairs or similar kind would be cool with this and a flokati rug. Also some sort of very crystally crazy chandelier could be fun.

PLEASE don't remove the ruffle/skirt - it is great and complements the style of the sofa so beautifully. Plus, it is part of the piece's heritage - keep it. Regarding chairs - I think you could go any number of ways, but I think it's super important to get the scale right - seating in the 50s was smaller-scale than today - honestly, I think you may have to go vintage to get it right....
BEAUTIFUL piece - you have a great eye, and are so lucky to get this!
