Good Questions: Cool Counter-Height Stools?

9-24-good q.jpgAT,

I'm looking for some really cool counter-height stools/chairs...any good ideas? They're so much harder to find than their chair and barstool cousins.

I was thinking the Bertoia chairs (they come counter level), but was thinking that you guys might have an idea for a design source that may not be so "DWR-ish." The look of the kitchen is very crisp and clean, so the furniture could go either way (funky or sleek or modern or handmade or vintage).

Melanie,

It's funny, a few months ago we searched for some for someone and didn't have any luck. But there seem to be more options now. We show the Emeco Navy here. (There are actually some knock-offs for sale in today's Scavenger.)

Here are some other options:
Precision Stool
Charles Ghost
Shinto
Big Brother

Anyone else?

Faced with the same issue, I chose the baba stool sold by DWR. It helped that I found them on Craig's list for $75 each. The baba is fairly neutral but works really well in my modern kitchen (bamboo cabinets, gray slate floors, white concrete counters). None of the sleeker options (emeco, bertoia, lem piston, etc.) was AT ALL comfortable to me. My advice: look around and try before you buy.

hollandbarstool.com

Holland offers an unprecedented 10-year warranty on all of their products, and there are many options to choose from.

Am I allowed to say that I carry this line, and have been VERY pleased with both the product and the company's service.

I searched far and wide for the ultimate counter stool and decided on the hoppy stool from Bonaldo, designed by Giorgio Manzali.

Chromed steel base with very comfortable emery leather seat adjustable from chair to counter to bar height

My favourite bar chairs/stools has got to be, Skipping" by the genius that is, Karim Rashid. Not much of his trademark "quirky" style here, but a very beautiful stool, all the same.
Currently saving up for three of these beauties, myself!
