Hi there,
I made this plastic shopping bag as a side project- it's crocheted out of recycled grocery bags (the one in the pictures is made from all Safeway bags, courtesy of the stash under my kitchen sink). I can make them to order in different sizes, such as grocery totes, beach bags, or even dorm shower bags. Do you think there would be a market for them? I'm looking for a way to get started selling them, because every time I take it to the farmer's market I get tons of questions about it and people interested in buying. I think it's a great idea in light of the recent ban on regular plastic bags in the city. I would love any feedback you may have!
Thanks so much,
Tovah

I agree, Etsy is the way to start. You could also (if you could produce enough) start selling them AT your local farmer's market. You could even have an 'old bag' donation bin there. I know I'd participate if there were someone like that at my local market.

Ohh! I think you could sell them, it seems a great indicator that people ask you about them. My small suggestion would be to widen the strap a little or change the color of it using different bags, just to give it a little umph.

It is a good idea - but if they're banning the bags where you live, where will you get supplies? I can imagine late night border-crossings to grab carloades from neighboring towns!

err, um...that's the Olde English spelling of "carloads."

I love carrying bags to the stores and markets. My biggest challenge is finding one that is more masculine.

Even though you have set up an Etsy, you might try a table at your local farmers' market.
