Hey Apartment Therapy,
I have recently bought 3 of these ottomans (2 are the same size and 1 is a bit smaller) thinking I would paint and reupholster them. They are so ghastly as-is but they were cheap. I love the bold, mid-century graphic look and I have these 2 fabrics picked out [pics of fabric and living room after the jump].

Should I do all 3 ottomans the same or make them all different, i.e. yellow upholstery-white frame, green upholstery-green frame, etc. I'm open to fabric suggestions, scrap-the-whole-thing-and-get-something-else, or any other ideas you guys may have. Side note: does the fabric have to be upholstery weight?
I've also attached photos of my living room. Furniture/layout is outdated but the color scheme remains the same.

The fabric should ideally be upholstery weight. Lighter fabrics will not last as long, especially on an ottoman, which can take a beating from shoes.
As for the choice of color and pattern, both of the fabrics you selected will work beautifully with your zesty green color scheme. The yellow will add pop whereas the green will be more restful.

I agree with Lisa that upholstery fabric will hold up better over time. However, I have used lighter fabric to recover chair seats and it has held up surprisingly well.
If the fabrics are really lightweight you will want to add a layer of a heavier white muslin (or something along those lines) underneath- just to keep the fabric colors true and crisp and so you don't see any of the color or pattern of your stuffing material.
I think you can mix up you fabric and paint colors, but don't go over board with it, if you know what I mean. Nice fabrics!

keep the patina of the original frame and reupholster them. i think white frames would make them look to cutesy and matchy.
