Good Questions: Large Work Table?

8-22-work table.jpgHello,

I am looking for a large work table. I'm a silkscreen printer and need a large work surface as well as height so that I am not bending over the table (I'm 5'10"). My studio is open and visible from the street so it's important that the table looks stylish and has character. I like the look of the table on the right that is in this picture. It would be nice if it had storage or drawers below. I live in Portland, Oregon. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Jennifer

Jennifer,

Daniel had a similar question recently. Take a look at the suggestions people had for him.

Anyone have any other stylish ideas?

Where is your studio? I have one in SE...

I put together a table with those adjustable height ikea legs and they work well for me, but i am not very tall. Have you looked at Fairly Honest Bills on MLK? they might have something.

Have you checked out Refind Furniture in the Rebuilding Center? Sounds like they might do some custom work.

Rejuvenation Hardware sometimes has great second-hand stuff but you have to go there to see what is in stock.

if you don't mind DIY... you can use two identical file cabinet/drawers on each side then prop a large wooden plank/table surface/salvaged wooden doors. that could do the trick ;)

If you want something vintage industrial, I might recommend Get Back Inc., but expect to spend a few thousand:

Not sure if it would be durable enough, but I've always liked the STRUT table from Blu Dot. It's large and has a steel frame and MDF top.

My friend just bought a really economical stainless prep table at a restaurant supply store on Broadway... just north of Gilt Club. It was ridiculously inexpensive and really nice quality... under $200 for a 3x5 top and they had many other sizes in stock. Good luck!

Check out the Artograph line. Simple, clean and functional. The work table is 60" by 30" and 38 " high. It comes on casters as well.
