Hi there AT:SF-
Do you know when the major stores - Crate & Barrel, DWR, etc. - might be putting out new furniture?
We've been saving up to redecorate our living room but I'm not so hot on the stuff out there right now. Do they do it on a quarterly basis or a yearly basis? I have a hole burning in my pocket!
Best, Kimberly

Dear Kimberly,
How happy these stores would be to hear you say that!
Here's the rundown on the scheduling of new product releases:
CB2 and Crate & Barrel: CB2's line is constantly changing. They have a new catalogue out this week with some new furniture and lots of new smaller items like wall hangings. The Fall catalogue, which will be out at the end of August, will have many more new furniture pieces, and the same is true for older sibling C&B.
DWR: Like CB2, DWR is constantly adding elements, so almost every catalog refreshes the line. New items can be found on their website first.
Room & Board: According to Christian Quillici, who reps R & B, the company's collection is updated on an annual basis: "Each January the new catalog and collection are rolled out nationwide. There are sometimes exceptions where we will introduce new accessories (pillows, lighting, etc.) at points throughout the year but the majority of new product comes out at the start of the calendar year."
Anyone else?
Somewhat on topic:
Does Room and Board tend to discontinue a lot of items each year? I have a lot of stuff on a wishlist on their website, but won't be moving--and so won't be ordering--until possibly after January. I think the main elements of my wishlist will stick around--Jasper sofa and Anders bed and dresser--but I was just wondering if anyone knew what sort of casualties R&B inflicts upon its lineup each year.

I was just at Crate and Barrel last week (I was prompted to visit based on a sale notice I received in the mail) and noted many, many new items. Although, most of the new upholstered furniture pieces were the same frames and padding, but different fabrics.
