Hi AT,
I need to have a bunch of pillow cases made (Eames bench pillows) and am looking for a place in San Francisco that is cheap, fast, and decent. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hi Kal,
We've used the sewing talents of a neighbor who does small upholstery jobs like this out of her home studio. Her name is Rebecca Shannon and she can be reached at 415.861.6476. Another resource is the staff of Discount Fabrics. The folks who work there are mostly design students and generally ask about $20/hour plus $20 to take a job.
Anyone else?
you have a beautiful bench. instead of covering it up with a pillow top i suggest that you refinish your bench. you can find a lot of craftsmen on craigslist under services. here's something that i did on a small scale :) http://dressyournest.blogspot.com/search/label/Organization
Pillowcases are very simple to sew. If you are feeling at all adventurous/crafty, you should go to your library and get a copy of Vogue Sewing for the Home to learn how to figure out your 'pattern' (you can draw it out on newspaper) and then book some time at Stitch Lounge to use their machines to sew them up.
That is actually a Nelson bench I believe, though if it's an original it's made by Herman Miller.
