Samantha is looking for some suggestions: My boyfriend and I recently purchased this velvet chocolate brown couch from Macy's.I've been looking for the perfect throw pillows (even cases will do, as we already have some throws) in orange and lime green tones. I'd like them to be in the $20-$30 range. Any great finds?

I would look at this site: http://www.homereserve.com/index.cfm
Choose a sofa roughly like yours. I sort of think this one comes close: http://www.homereserve.com/shop-furniture.cfm?fid=1&style=30&item=1#
Give it fabric roughly like your sofa. You might end up using black, instead of brown. And then click on the "Throw pillows not included. Add/change them here" link up by the sofa to try on as many different kinds of pillows as they have fabric (which is quite a lot). Prices start at around $17.
Great way to visualize what you're buying on your couch!

Darn it. And forgot to mention, shipping is FREE for the throw pillows at Home Reserve. And check out all the different shapes and sizes, too!

I bought that same sofa for my den in the Raspberry microfiber...
...first thing I did was get rid of the pillows that came with it (they're on the banquette in the dining area for now) and replace them w/ some pillows made from Chiang Mai Dragon Alabaster that I found on eBay. (They inspired the draperies in my den)
Whatever you choose, get something with lots of pattern and color - and be sure to flip the cushions on your sofa frequently for even wear.

Thanks everyone for the wonderful advice. How exciting to see my question in a post on AT!

We have a sofa the same color, and it sits across from chairs that have a soft-red stripe. I got these at Pier One, and they have a zillion different fun patterns and colors at very reasonable prices (meaning if you get tired of them, it's not a huge investment to try something different). They also organize their pillows by color in the store!

Bright orange and green you say? You can buy Lilly Pulitzer fabric by the yard and have your drycleaners stitch up pillow covers.

I love this question. I have a brown couch myself and have been searching so many stores for orange and green pillows!! Thank goodness someone else is in my shoes.
I found only one so far I liked, at world market about a year ago. It was more of an olive green but it had orange and brown flowers stiched on it!

I have very simple charcoal grey sofa and I mixed it up with pillows in floral, stripes and textured fabrics.
I think it depends what color you want to introduce.
Chocolate brown is like charcoal grey almost any color goes. I went blues, greens and grey more on the cool tones. I see you going with the warmer tones- reds, deep pinks, red orange, golds or fuschia, plums, with some gold, cream with brown..or you could do pale blues, creams, taupe altogether. Due to the scale of the sofa and the weight of that fabric cutesy cotton pillows will not do go richer with a mix of fibers. You could also go all solid in deep orange, red and pink.
I agree Pier 1 Import store which I typically cannot stand occasionally has some interesting pillow but I guess that would mean a good eye and patience.
I would take a day a look around at your local home decor stores. They are all having sales and might be willing to give you a better price. Something not as massed produced and special for a better price why not!
You may fall in love with one pillow of interest for more than that amount, then you can add less expensive ones later.

What an inspired idea!
Here's a great Lilly fabric in those colors: and it's precut into 18" squares

Check Calico Corners, they carry Thomas Paul fabric now. You can make some easy pillows at the fraction of the cost. I just covered my old ottoman for about $30 for one yard!
Aviary, Stockholm, Silhouette are on sale for $21.59 a yard. More than enough for two pillows. Pretty sure shipping is free.

I'd love to buy this sofa but can't test it out anywhere. What is the quality like in person? Is it comfortable?
