Good Questions: Sexy Chairs for Bad Backs?

2006_11_30_spoleto.jpgHi AT,

I'm hosting my husband's whole family for the holidays this year and I need at least one really comfy, cushy AND supportive dining chair for my father-in-law, who has trouble sitting for long periods of time because of back issues.

The problem is, I'm hoping to find something that won't clash with the rest of our modern furniture, which includes some inherited Spoleto chairs that we're having re-done in a pale golden leather. I'd like my father-in-law to be able to come over anytime knowing he'll be comfortable at our table.

Thanks,
Callie

Any good ideas out there for Callie?

I can't help Callie with her question, but I have a question about the Spoleto chair. I recently had two given to me on more or less permanent loan. Mine are white leather. They're in excellent condition. Any special care needed? Okay just to wipe clean with a damp cloth?

Thanks!
Cheryl

Callie,
There are so many options. Whichever you choose, I would recommend purchasing two of that chair (if you can afford it), so that whenever your father-in-law comes over, he is not seated in the sole oddball chair, but perhaps at one of two comfortable chairs at either head of the table. (This will also balance the look of your living room much more nicely than having all one kind of chair and one exception.)
One chair that jumps to mind as potentially working with your Spoletos is this one: http://www.inmod.com/tivoli.html
Good luck to you- let us know what you decide!

I checked out the inmod website. Looks to me like most of the stuff is cheap knockoffs at only minor discounts. I find that with modern design-you often get what you pay for--and you're better off buying the real thing than a cheap knock off. Anyone else know about inmod? are they cheap knockoffs?

I am actually a loyal customer of Inmod's and I have always been greeted with unrivalled customer service, and unrivalled quality. Yes, they sell knock-offs, but I would hardly call them cheap. In fact, their reproductions are by far the best I've seen anywhere. I'm pretty sure they sell a repro of this chair too.

LOL--Just don't buy your FIL one of the Inmod pods!
