apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Good Questions: Sources for great wallpaper?

2007_06_14_wallpaper.jpgHi AT:SF,

I was wondering if you all knew of a good place to find interesting wallpaper?

Thanks,
Arran

Dear Arran,

We love any opportunity to point out that we have tons of great archives that may offer ideas and answers to your questions...and this is one of 'em! We've blogged some interesting wallpaper (and wallpaper panel) resources here at AT:SF, which can be found here. NY's wallpaper archives are here, Chicago's are here, and LA's are here.

But to your question directly: here are a few sources and designers we particularly like. (Note that a lot of the really beautiful stuff in this category seems to come from England, so if you get tempted make sure to check that they will ship at decent rates.)

Cole & Sons
deGournay
Anthropologie
Flavor League

And though we haven't checked these guys out thoroughly, they seem to have a large selection at good prices:
shop4wallpaper.com

Anyone else?

Arran -

go to www.creativewallcovering.com

Look at the "Retro" and "Modern" collections first (they overlap somewhat).

That way you can be green about it and not drive all over town to look at patterns. Since we're on a green kick lately. ;->

They're great. They ship fast. And they have hundreds of cool ones.

Wandrlust has some truly drool-worthy wallpapers, including the Florence Broadhurst papers. Not cheap by any stretch, but lovely.

Good luck with your wallpaper search!

Thanks for all the great suggestions. Also - does anyone know of a store in SF or nearby where I could see some good wallpaper firsthand, that would be great too.
thanks!

Osborne & Little have a showroom at the SFDC. And the whole Cole & Son line can be viewed at the Lee Jofa showroom.
