Good Questions: Tile to Go With Green Glass Vanity?

mist052909.jpgTracy is looking for some suggestions: I bought a vanity with frosted green glass for our master bathroom, and now I'm having trouble figuring out what tile to use in the room. The green has a strong presence. You'll see the shower tile at the same time as the vanity, so they need to look good together. Gray or black tile might make the shower feel too dark. Right now I'm thinking white subway tile, vertical, stacked. Any other ideas?

oh and for the floor, maybe a medium to dark gray... but whatever you use, get huge tiles so that you won't have to clean between the grout. I'm assuming that you're getting the shower floor square white thing. something like this...

Green glass tiles like these:

There are also nicer assortments that combine longer and shorter lengths of glass tile with assorted different finishes- matte, iridecent, gloss....
They're expensive so you could use them just as an accent within the white subway tiles. Personally, I think with such a dramatic and unique sink, you'll wanna specifically pull something complementary into the tilework to pull the whole look together.

watch the glass tiles thing. the execution of the application has to be done by someone who knows how to do this otherwise it can look messy.... because you basically see through the tiles.

Also, try Walker Zanger for beautiful tile (they are in the S.F. Bay Area also and have local showrooms). But the white subway tile is also a good idea and easily acquired...

I don't have anything practical to add; I just want to say that your new vanity is beautiful!

Thanks so much for your suggestions! I found the perfect blend of glass mosaic tile that I can use as a backsplash for the vanity and as an accent in the shower. I spotted them on Craigslist for half-price and snatched them up within 10 minutes of the ad being posted. Without your help, I might still be looking.
