Tracyj,
This question comes up every so often, and shows that we really need to do some research and compile a list of good upholsterers. In the meantime, check out these posts for a few suggestions:
• Good Questions: Good Local Upholsterer for This Chair?
• Good Questions: Chair Fixer and Reupholsterer in One?
• Good Questions: Is This Reupholstery Job D.I.Y.-able?
Anyone else?

I haven't personally used Retrospect by Ross & Wroolie Custom Design & Reupholstery, but here's a glowing review:

I use a company out of Oakland, DeAnda's upholstery; they are a family owned operation, don't be disillusioned by their basic business nature; no website, etc. They are a hispanic couple who have done all of my upholstery work on my design clientele over the last 9 years and they do phenomenal work, are great people to work with, pick up and deliver, and their pricing is very competitive. I have always supplied the fabric, so i cannot comment on their support with that aspect, but their # is 510-436-4057; owners, Roberto and Josephine.
Good luck and post pics of the finished product.

I used Dan's Upholstery (in San Carlos) to reupholster a couch and loved them. They came over to my house to give me a quote, picked up the couch once I had chosen the fabric, and finished the job and delivered it to my living room in 6 days! They have a ga-jillion fabrics to chose from, but you don't have to use their stuff. They did an amazing job; were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful; and very reasonably priced.

I used Steve's Upholstery on 17th Street to redo a chair that was a family heirloom. We bought the fabric and they picked it and the chair up at our house. Delivered it in a few weeks.
The price was fair, about the price of a new chair or less.
