Good Questions: What Do You Think of This Rug?

10-26-rug.jpgHello Folks at AT,

One of the new products listed on Ikea is this cool looking area rug. I think it's really modern and a steal for that price.

What do my fellow ATers say?

Sam

Hot! Love the asymmetry.

One bad thing is that its white and you need to get it professionally cleaned. That is a deal breaker in my house but doesn't have to be in yours!

I second the cleaning comment but as far as looks are concerned, its great. It looks like a Richard Serra print.

It makes me think of intestines.

Not in a bad way though.

I like and I'd totally buy if it were bigger (another foot in each direction perhaps).

I like it, but oy, how dirty that rug is going to get.

How often do you have to wipe serious dust off your window sills? Even if you tiptoe around the rug in little indoor booties, never spill red wine, and limit your pets to extremely dainty white cats who take their anti-nausea pills, anything that comes in through the window will be having a meet-and-greet with the rug. But ambient grime varies a lot, depending where you are.

You'll also want a lucite coffee table, so that your coffee table doesn't block the design. This is a demanding rug.

Oh Sam! I saw this rug and totally wanted it too. But the fear of dirt, and knowledge of what happened to our very cheap IKEA rug despite often vacuuming prevented. Then again, we live in a basement apartment with a cat, and lots of red wine drank, and no dinner table (no space). But the dirt that ended up was mostly "ambient". *sigh*

I think cleaner, neater people/places can definitely hold this awesomeness in shape.
