Hi there AT:SF, I am looking to buy a new couch and found a posting on Craigslist for Custom Sofa Design. I was hoping maybe your readers had an idea of the quality and service of this company. They are offering sofas at a low, low price and many seem to be knock-offs of big designers. Thanks!

Ashley,
It looks like Custom Sofa Design has a nice selection (including daybeds and beds) and good prices (although we'd like to know more about the shipping costs), so we're curious. Since they have an LA location, we found a post that AT:LA wrote a couple of months ago: LA Good Questions: Custom Sofa Design?
Anyone else?

I can't comment on the sofas other than that I saw them at their LA location and, well, they looked like designer sofas (Petrie, Jasper, etc).
But I can comment on their service (awesome, 2 week turn around, happy to accommodate specific dimensions) and the quality (super awesome, gorgeous fabric choices, beautiful construction) as I bought an upholstered platform bed from them. You can (sort of) see it here:

I suggest you visit the company's showroom, if possible, and examine their selection of sofas before seeing the sofa on Craigslist. If you're unable to do so, I would examine the selection of sofas at few high quality furniture retailers and then see the sofa. Doing this will provide you with a comfort and construction reference for the sofa on Craigslist.

I've purchased a custom sofa from the SF store as well and were quite happy with the price/product. It's been in use for a good 6 years now and while the cushions are getting a little flat, the materials are holding together quite well. The only complaint I have is that I'd like it to have been a little heavier, but then some people might see that as a plus.
