SF Good Questions: What Do You Think of My DOCKSTA Plant Stand?

7-7-flowerpot.jpgHi AT SF, I was swapping out the base of my IKEA 'Docksta' (tired of scuff marks) and thought hmmm... "will this possible work?" My bike is in the pic for scale, it definitely looks/feels super-sized in person. Yay or nay?

Iffy on the plant itself, but loving the stand.

I love it, but I'd much rather see a huge bushy fern on there instead!

Like the bottom - don't like the bucket part. If the bucket was a curvier shape, like the bowl of a wine glass, it would feel more cohesive with the base.

It is good, very good, much better than the original table. I don't mind the plant, though myself, I've been going nuts over scented geraniums this summer....

I feel like this picture is playing a trick on my eyes. For some reason my brain cannot quite compute the actual size of this thing!

I dig. Good sense of scale w.r.t. the plant.

I dig it but I'd go for a plant that draped over the sides (which i would of course kill in less than a week with my black thumb.)

Love it, but do it a favor and replace it with a full lush plant or arrange a variety of succulents for a clean look.

Most importantly, job well done!

I think it looks great.

It would be nice with a rounder, orb shape too. Sort of looking like a drop of milk sculpture.

You can do an image search at Google for: Milk drop
to see what I mean.

Thanks! So much for the generous feedback.

I agree the plant needs to be fuller...I am OK waiting for it to actually grow into the container.

I have had the plant since a single 4" clipping! Any chance someone can identify it for me? It literally has year-round, sticky, tiny red flower and is completely covered in sharp, narrow thorns.

On a side note... the original IKEA 'Docksta' table was from Craigslist ($20) and the pot was a street score in my Mission neighborhood.
