SF Good Questions: Where Can I Find Throw Pillows Like These?

5-20-throw pillows.jpgHi AT:SF, I would love to find throw pillows for my new sofa that are similar to these (from Anthropologie, shown with the Amelie sofa). I can't find these online or anything similar. I'm very excited to have scored a great deal on this sofa (in indigo velvet, but with mahogany wood) and want to re-create this look..

...It's going in our Victorian living room and our style is a mix of the modern and retro. I love graphic patterns with retro appeal and am looking for something with the dark blue, yellow or gold, cream, possibly turquoise (fireplace tile is turquoise). Thanks!

-Ali

Can anyone help Ali?

If you have ANY experience sewing, you can easily make these. Really, pillowcases are four straight sides. And fringe is a bit tricky the first time, but gets easier very quickly. It comes bound up so you can sew without strings flying everywhere.

Here's a great tutorial!

And if not, you can get them made reasonably priced at an alterations shop (most will make a pillow case for you). You'll just have to shop for the fabric in fringe.

I see ones like these at TJMaxx or Marshalls all the time. Usually the frilly ones people dont pick up unless French Country or a more traditional look is in around that particular store. So in Queens these arent always on the shelf but in downtown Brooklyn you will find tons of these. Just keep checking back to get different styles in your color theme.

I agree with nadnuk. You don't even need a sewing machine to make pillows this simple.

They have that barkcloth look with brush fringe, like these, except these are tropical or quite retro:

Here's some toile with brush fringe (note the keyword I am using in my search is "brush fringe"):

Browse online sites, like Overstock:

I didn't find those pillows though. I might try to look more later.

Thanks to everyone. I appreciate your expert searching skills :). I should have clarified that it's the fabric patterns/color combinations that I love, not the pillow style itself. I'd be happy to find a similar fabric and make the pillow covers myself, but haven't been able to find anything I like as much.
