Q: I was wondering if you guys might know of a local place to get some really thick (like 1/2" and thicker) felt. I've been seeing it used a lot lately, like in this chair found on dezeen. I'm not particularly a fan of this specific use of it, but I think it is a pretty cool material. Any thoughts?

That looks like industrial wool felt, which is much thicker and sturdier than craft-store felt and cheaper than the deluxe solid wool stuff that filzfelt sells. A few years back there was an AT post about sources for it:

I particularly liked Maxwell's use of it to make sliding doors.

I am up in the seattle area and I know some people were able to get the industrial grade felt from Boeing Surplus store. I do not know if it is something they always carry but you might want to check out a similar industrial surplus.

@ Liana:
Thanks! I tried searching for a posting on this and didn't find that one.
That page has some great links. Those are definitely the kinds of felt I am looking for.
