If there is something that pleases and satisfies, it will fall into place in any welcoming life. A person lives in a room or sometimes a house, almost always with a cookstove and objects of respect and enjoyment, to make real an otherwise empty meaningless subsistence and give warmth. Often a dulled thick water tumbler will make anything in it taste better. That is because its shape and heft are right, whether it came from Ireland in a great-grandmother’s trunk or from a shoddy rummage shop last week. This truism holds for everything we need to exist with.
