A Green Roof in Seattle

Architect Rob Harrison's Seattle home has a special garage... Its roof is green.

In yesterday's post on the Dwell Blog, Michael Cannell writes, "The roof is planted with baby blue eyes, red clover, yarrow and fescues, along with a mixture of drought tolerant sedums. Like all green roofs, it provides insulation and reduces rainwater run-off."

Cool! The Ballard Library in Seattle also has a green roof. Looks a little weird, but such a great idea...

let's just hope one of those nearby pine trees' seeds doesn't try to take root and grow up there! i'm sure the owner would stop it in time before its roots did damage but the thought is still funny.
