Bedside Water Bottle and Glass from Gaiam

1-16-gaiam.jpg

Beautifully imperfect. Gaiam's Bedside Water Bottle and Glass are handblown of recycled glass by artisans in Colombia. Besides being sturdy and practical -- the glass doubles as a lid -- you can rest easy knowing your purchase supports a fair trade group.

$39 at Gaiam.

So, what exactly makes this a Bedside bottle and glass bedside-specific? Does it keep water cold through the night? Is it heavy and resists being accidentally knocked off the nightstand by roving man-hands blindly charging for the snooze button?

Lastly, if so inclined, can I also use one of these as an upscale moonshine jug?

The bottle looks a LOT like the handblown glass bottle Patron tequila comes in.

I bought something similar for a bedside bottle and glass. I hated it. The glass is small and no one wants to pour water in the middle of the night. Moreover, when you take the glass on and off the bottle it makes a lot of noise. I'd stick with a large glass of water.

I'd love to stick with the large glass of water, but I have a cat that wages war against any and all open containers of liquid. (Her favorite is to stick her paw in a glass of water and pull it off the table. We use a lot of plastic glasses now.)

I've been just keeping a gatorade bottle filled with water by the bed. Never really considered finding something actually designed for this purpose!
