Rick and Heidi, the married team behind Paradise Hill Design, design and create each piece together. They use reclaimed wood from old barns and other sources near their home in British Columbia, with the history of the material showcased in each creation. We're particularly fond of their dresser boxes, which seem the perfect place for storing little treasures. You can see what else is available in the Paradise Hill Design shop here, and find out more about the couple's creative process here.
sorry, but the framed screen (?), looks like something I'd see at a dumpster?

Oh my god! My dad, (who is in rural Texas and completely out of touch with design blogs, etc.), just made me one of these for Christmas: http://fotoflat.onsugar.com/2718733
When I saw the one he made for my stepmom, I'd never seen anything like it before. I guess my dad is a design maven. Who knew?

very rural craftsy, seen plenty of stuff like this before. Doesn't strike me as particularly having "soul" except that they're handmade from reclaimed wood.

For those who don't like the look of the reclaimed wood you could do the same thing with a pretty picture frame.
