How To: Prettify a Plain Tealight Holder

Patricia is a graphic designer and mom who just posted this great DIY project on her blog, Little Hut. The decoration around a simple glass votive holder casts beautiful shadows to up the impact of already-lovely candlelight.

Materials:

• One long paper towel tube
• Small glass votive holder
• Scissors

Flatten the tube and gently crease the sides. Cut the tube into sections; Patricia's are 1/4" wide, but you can vary the width to your liking, up to 1".

Join the rings with a dot of glue on either side of the oval-shaped sections, using the side of the tealight as a guide. The thickness of your rings will determine how many you have to work with — more, and you can make the design really tight; less, and the loops will be more open.

Once the rings are connected in a complete circle, just set it around the tealight and light the candle!

Holy cripes, that's lovely! I think it'd be even more lovely with a coat of spraypaint, but man oh man. My urge to throw a swanky cocktail party this spring grows...
