Industrial Materials and Bold Design
The Oregonian: 11.20.08

Colin and Jaynelle Nash collaborated with green building contractors Green Hammer to design build this industrial-modern, passive-solar dream house in Estacada, Oregon, southeast of Portland.

Solar panels are mounted on the 30-degree pitched roof, and celestory windows and the reflection off of a nearby pond provide additional light.

Much of the house is given over to a two-storey art studio, that the Nash's might convert the upper portion of down the line, to accommodate kids.

I don't like that the exposed wood is particle board. That kind of makes it seem unfinished.

i really like the inside, the open space and the industrial look, but the outside-red windows dont match the) also good looking) outside of the building! It seems to me a bit like a try, to get the look of the typical swedish house somehow...

I think this house has a lot of style and other than its basic shape doesn't look particulary Swedish. The Swedish don't go in for such an industrial look.
I'm guessing that a lot more work will be done on this house in the future and I'm sure it will be great to work on.

What a beautiful home - I could move right in (after finishing the loft for a Master Bedroom Suite)

And I love the red windows - an uncommon but perfect choice.

This is a major tangent, but I saw "Tonya and Nancy: A Rock Opera," a few months ago, and one of the highlights was the Jeff Gilooly (sp?) character singing a song about hitting rock bottom. It went, "Sleeping in my car in Estacada." Yesss.
