Look! Aluminum Can Ornaments

This idea is gorgeous as it is simple, combining the fun of gathering beautifully shaped fallen leaves with the shiny adornment associated with Christmas decor. And it's a great re-use for soda cans to boot.

The process is really easy, and can be deduced from the pictures: cut open and flatten a tin can, trace the outline of a leaf, and cut it out. The finishing touches include sanding the edges and printed surface, and attaching twine, ribbon or string for hanging on your tree.

Beautiful. But I'd probably cut my fingers to ribbons doing this. Not to mention all the snagged clothes that would result from hanging these things.

I love this sort of thing--beautiful DIY stuff that I can look at, look at the empty coke can immediately to my left, and have my own beautiful DIY craftie in front of me five minutes later.

This reminds me of my dad's old beer can Christmas decorations, where he cut the logo out of the aluminum beer can and made a whole near the top to add a string to hang it! I'm quite fond of them for sentimental value.
