Look!: The Holiday Scents of Pomanders

12-6-pomander.jpg

How do the holidays smell in your house? Emily of Emilystyle recently reminded us of the good smells that pomanders bring into the house this time of year.

The clove-studded fruit (most often oranges) have been around since the Middle Ages, and were popular during the Victorian era. We love them for their timelessness and the fact that they are a totally green way to freshen your air. Not to mention that making them is a fun and easy crafty project to fill an evening with.

Find instructions on how to make your own pomander right here.

I made a couple of these earlier this week because I love cloves and spice scents, plus I found the bulk cloves at my grocery store.

I'm keeping one in my house and one on my desk at work.

I remember making these when I was a kid. I'll have to find a glass vase to put them in to keep the overly curious cat from eating them.

We used to make these in Kindergarten. But until this post, i couldn't remember why.
Thanks for the memories!

i remember this from third grade. i think we then out some cinnamon on it as well and put it in like a cloth bag, that had a lot of small holes in it, like a netting, and then tied it up with some ribbon. It made it a little nicer looking and easier to present to friends.
