Ouno Bedcoverings

1-18-08-ouno.jpg

These quilt-like bedcoverings are not only beautiful, but a beautiful concept -- what's not a vintage textile is an organic cotton or hemp fabric. One side is a patchwork of printed scarves from the 60s and 70s, and the other side is a solid, new organic fabric.

Ouno's blankets are handmade in Vancouver, B.C. The company aims to "upcycle" -- meaning to recycle older materials into to a higher-end product.

Each piece is unique and fits up to a king size bed. $395 at Ouno.

Love it. It's still spendy, but not nearly as much as I'd expect for a unique, handmade item.

That's a Canadian beaver with the Montreal Olympic logo from 1976...wild! I want the one with the beaver!

I make silk scarves into pillows (I know, it's been done before, but I still like doing it). My only worry with this (as it is with my pillows) is that they're very delicate fabric, and basically a no-go for anyone with cats. But beautiful none-the-less!
