Celebrity event designer Preston Bailey is no stranger to expensive. So we were pleasantly surprised to see his take on recycled gift wrap on his blog recently - although it might be more accurate to call it re-used gift wrap.

Yes, that's paper packaging you see, re-imagined as a textured wrapping.
Leave it to Mr. Bailey to make packaging material seem elegant - although we think replacing the silk flowers with some homemade newspaper ones might be more appropriate and just as lovely.
You can read more about his gift wrapping process here.
Would be lovely with some real flowers, branch of Toyon berries, or mistletoe.

This made me laugh. I saw some of this at work the other day from some boxes we were unpacking and I picked it up and said "this stuff is pretty cool, I bet I could figure out a way to reuse it as wrapping paper or something." Everyone at work just looked at me like I was the cheapest person in the world and I didn't care, I thought it had a nice pattern and texture. If they only knew how much other stuff like this I keep for a rainy day. LOL!

I love this stuff--I've gotten it when mail ordering breakables, and I've wrapped gifts in it, too--with the flowers, and pine cones and wired French ribbons. I have a drawer full of it, awaiting further inspiration. (Tried a lampshade--didn't quite make it.) Does anybody know what it's called?

Crate and Barrel packs breakables with a ton of this stuff--it's pretty cool, but it is also really rough to the touch. Looks great as wrapping paper, though. You could put different colors of tissue behind it and it would peek through. Maybe I'll save some of the (mountains of) packaging CB2 just sent me.
