Scrabble Board Placemats

12-13-salvage.jpg

Okay, we know this is silly. But on the heels of Tuesday's post about $59 reproductions of board games as wall art, we felt duty-bound to share this picture of Scrabble boards as placemats at The Salvage Studio -- a very awesome business in and of itself.

The Salvage Studio is a junk shop, salvage store and teaching art studio all in one, offering workshops on how to repurpose salvaged and recycled finds throughout the year. You haven't heard the last from us about this awesome business.

I don't think it's so silly. I find the scrabble boards themeselves to be too large for placemats and I find that the colors (in this setting at least) clash terribly, however I think the idea of using the tiles to spell out placecards is genius!

I don't think it's silly either, it's fun! Although those boads won't look so great with wine and gravy stains on them.

My scrabble-playing self just got upset at seeing these boards repurposed as place mats. Then again, I should probably have a sense of humor about it and realize that if I got bored at dinner, I could have a rousing game of scrabble with someone at the table.
