The Eco-Shed

A forty-five minute drive and ferry ride from downtown Vancouver is all it takes to get to the Eco-Shed on Bowen Island, in the improbably named Snug Cove Village. The guest house is the project of James Glave, author of Almost Green and blogger for Live Modern. It's been a long time since a trip up north has called out to us so strongly.

The 280 square foot "shed" sleeps two, and the "eco" part comes in with passive solar energy, reclaimed building materials, efficient fixtures and nontoxic materials and finishes.

On top of everything, Bowen Island is a gorgeous place to visit, and having a place like this to stay — neither camping nor hotel dwelling —  would make a fantastic trip. Since the guest house just opening for business this month there are still plenty of available days to rent, but we don't expect that to last.

Awright!

I just reserved a week at the ol' Eco Shed in September - did you know they're using a quote from you on their homepage?

I'm so psyched.
