Turn Clutter into Storage and Decorating Solutions
Real Simple

Sometimes it's easy to lose track of the basis behind a green lifestyle; with so much cool "eco-friendly" stuff out there, you might want to buy it all and feel like something's been accomplished. The fact is, though, the best way to go green is to repurpose, rather than purchase.

great! but those q tips out in the open must now be thrown away. they're not 'sterile' enough for what they'll be used for. instead, they've been soaking up all the air-borne ickyness and moisture.

Does anyone need a magazine to tell them that empty jars can be used for storage? Just because Real Simple is for real simpletons--AT should have higher standards.

Palmetto- I don't find it all surprising, given some of the crap that AT likes to tout here as "useful." Like the $100 dish drain that doesn't even catch food.

Oh please. Like Q-tips in the box are sterile. Your ears aren't sterile either--in fact, the purpose of earwax is to trap and collect dirt and bacteria. Not that you should ever use Q-tips in your ears. You can keep swabs in whatever container you like as long as they're not actually dirty.
