Let's say you know you want to build or renovate in a green way. But you don't know where to start. How about giving the Green Builders of Marin a call? According to their website:
"Green Building aims to create structures that are durable, environmentally friendly, and comfortable. It should take into account the complete system including energy and resources used in extraction, manufacturing, maintenance and use of the structure, and the re-use and disposal of all materials involved."
We like that the website also includes a green project checklist. We never would have thought to "use recycled content rubble for backfull drainage." Okay, we actually aren't even sure what that means. But if we were to embark on a green renovation, we would definitely research this further.
