Hanging Art from Hangers

6-16-hanger art.jpgWe're surprised that hanging art from pants hangers actually looks kind of cool... but it does.

Not the usual; I like it.

Wow, I love it, I love how people can think of cool ways to reuse items in unintended ways..

Does anyone have any ideas on what kind of hangers those are? They look quite rustic

Not sure on the brand, but they don't really look that different from ones currently made. Google "trouser clamps" or go to the Container Store.

Great. I am totally doing that for my son's painting. Easier than an easel.

Part of what makes it look good is the repetition of three of the same photo, that they are b/w), and that the width is the same as the hanger width. But I have a few of those hanger in a closet somewhere, and I agree that they would work really well for kids' artwork. Might have to give that a try.

What if they were photos of pants. That would be ironic.

cheap and cheerful: ikea's BUMERANG pant hangers $0.99... you just need that GlooBeGone stuff to get the freekin' ikea stickers off the wood.

ha! that's only really funny because that's how i hang posters up when i need them to uncurl from being rolled up (with a pants hanger on either end) or when i'm trying to decide where they'll finally be mounted.

i didn't know that anyone else did it.

neat. :)

I collect these hangers and use them just this way. They're fairly inexpensive at antiques stores and often have fun store names or hotel logos on them. There are also many different clamp systems that have been used over the years.

I think it's a great idea! I have TONS of these pant hangers from IKEA and I'm thinking of painting some black and using for pictures.

Looks fun, but it's terrible for the art. Don't do this with anything you plan on keeping long-term.

I use these for a quilt my aunt made (it's a pretty gentle clamp). And I've been doing the same thing as lkampas with a poster I love (which I really do need to get custom-framed, but...)
