Wednesday's H&G was a little light, but we did find a couple of interesting articles:
Looking Glass Sass: Susan Fornoff on mirrors, mirrors, and more mirrors at the Decorator Showcase
Sewing for the impatient beginner: Anh-Minh tests a couple of projects from Lotta Jansdotter's new book from Chronicle Books
Design Dilemmas: Avoid glaring lighting with an easy formula: Beryn Hammil helps a Belmont homeowner whose guests "feel as if they are being interrogated by the police because of the intense glare from the lights"

Thanks - the article on glare from lights is a keeper. I didn't know there was a "rule" of 7 inches of seperation per foot of height. But it makes sense.
And that mirrored cabinet gives me an idea for a tiny bathroom. I have a munch of large mirrors from another remodel that now I want to cut down in size and affix to the front of a bathroom cabinet to make the tiny room seem larger. I'll paint the cabinet face frame silver rather than black though.

I guess I broke the rule when the electrician put in my recessed cans. But the goal was to simply wash down the wall and the artwork over the fireplace. He said the typical distance for that was 18-24" so I went with his suggestion. Oh well, I'm not ripping them out because of a formula. LOL.
