The highlights from yesterday's H&G:
At home with C.C. Sabathia: Where does the Cleveland Indians pitcher spend the off-season? In Fairfield. Anh-Minh visits his very un-AT-like "manse" with its theater area, piano room, and large-scale furnishings.
Start summer with colors, textures to enrich your life: Sally Socolich briefs us on three warehouse sales this weekend -- at Shamiana, Zocalo, and Flax Art.

If someone wants to build a 1,200 sf cabana next to his manse, that's fine----but WHY is Apartment Therapy showcasing this? What message does this give in terms of living creatively, resourcefully, greenly in smaller spaces?
Met Home began as Apartment Life, but a generation ago switched its focus. I hope SFAT isn't making that move so abruptly.

krister,
I'm confused. I described the house as "very un-AT-like."
This was not an AT:SF House Tour. Twice every week we blog the Chronicle's Home & Garden section -- they were the ones who showcased the home. You can follow the link mentioned here to Lynette Evans' recent column, which addressed the issue of the homes that they feature:

That home theater proves that money is the source of all evil or bad design, whichever comes first.

Leslie,
You did describe it that way, but why even post something like that?
I saw the Chronicle coverage of it. I just don't think it merited posting here. Check Portland, Seattle, Oakland, San Jose papers for alternate postings--surely there's something out there worth broadcasting.

krister,
because we always cover the chron.
because while there have been many articles in the past that i personally have, um, not loved (example: taxidermy house), often i'm surprised by what some readers do love.
because we've checked other newspapers' h&g sections, and haven't found anything.
because we hope the chron reads comments like yours.

A bit vulgar, don't you think?
I guess for a society that's obsessed with being rich and famous, the newspapers feel the need to feed us this dribble so people can "oohh and ahh" and go out and max their credit cards to emulate it....
Just because someone has gobs of money doesn't mean he/she has any style or taste. This just proves it.
It's also quite sad that "we've checked other newspapers' h&g sections, and haven't found anything."
I mean with all the cutting edge design out there THEY couldn't find anything to report on except this? Oi! Doesn't bode well for the future of the newspaper....
