apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Home & Garden Highlights: 07.11.07

7-12-h&g.jpgIn Wednesday's H&G, the Chron again demonstrates that it thinks its readers are very different from AT:SF's.

The House on the Hill: Judy Richter on Hillsborough's Carolands. Two people. Six staff members. 98 rooms. A $20M+ restoration. Library with catwalk. Elevator. Atrium. Ballroom. Words escape us.

Design Dilemmas: Lisa Jasper's advice to the homeowner of a Berkeley condo is to make the common area into a "great room."

as a writer, i thought it was funny that the article cites wikipedia. yes, i've looked up things on the site before, but am not sure it's the best/most reliable source by itself.

OK, so the Chron thinks it's readers have different tastes.

There are a lot of rich people in the bay area, and of lot them no doubt own businesses buy advertising in that paper.

Nothing wrong with that.

As to the article, it's fun to see how the rich set lives sometimes. Personally I find that type mostly offensive (snobbish), but I'll never pass up a look inside one of their mansions.

Pictures of 375 sqft studios don't sell newspapers. Pictures of glam does.

I stopped reading newspapers long ago because most seem to be simply propaganda tools, and I don't like the idea of using all those dead trees every week so I don't buy papers, I use Google news.
