Home & Garden Highlights: 10.28.06

2006_10_29_mathews28_ph05-1.jpgH&G was a bit of a snoozer this weekend. But here are the highlights:

Styling California as an Eden: Who knew there was something called the California Decorative Style? It involved poppies. Laura Thomas uncovers two of its influential practitioners, turn-of-the-century artists Arthur and Lucia Mathews.

Going in circles: Susan Fornoff returns from the biannual High Point Market with a report on furniture trends destined for 2007 retail. They don't sound all that new: Chinoiserie, animal prints, higher tables and beds, and the colors chocolate brown and orange.
