Wednesday's Chron had an article on a "space-challenged" 1,200-square foot Russian Hill condo and Anh-Minh Le's article on Danny Seo (although their link doesn't work so we had to get it from Anh-Minh's website). Oh, and there was that piece about household untidiness. . . Then there were two from the Washington Post and one from the New York Times. What gives, dear Chronicle?

"We're not sure how many AT readers would think of 1,200 square feet as 'space challenged.'"
While I enjoyed the piece and its accompanying photos, I also questioned whether 1,200 is really a small space in SF -- especially for one person, or even a couple. My house in the suburbs isn't much bigger than that!
I recently corresponded with the editor at the Chronicle's Home & Garden section only to be told they were doing the best they could with a minimal staff of 1 FT employee (supplemented by optioned pieces from other papers and all volunteer writers for the garden section). They asked for ideas for articles and I sent ~15. It's my guess that the opinion pieces, about tidyness or oversized family photographs being tacky or white-dishes-only, are just quick filler. Unfortunately many of them can be condescending, or empty, and ultimately I feel the Chronicle's H&G section has lost its relevance... Sad because for a major city paper I know they can do better.
BTW, who ARE they kidding? 1200 square ft., especially for one or two people, is a palace in most parts of the World! It makes me wonder if they ever travel outside SF...
There's a reason it's called 'The Comicle'
the Chron is often a fine or decent newpaper...i hope you don't work for a rival, JC...the weeklies always sniping at eachother & the Cron is annoying, who cares!
a staff of 1, damn...thanks Rucy...wondering if that means they're open to submissions.
