(Welcome to Julie, one of the "techettes" vying for a blogging position at the upcoming AT:Home Tech. Comment away.)

No matter how many wireless products you use, you probably still have several wires coming off your laptop. If you want access to a printer, scanner, and synching bases for your mobile devices, it's hard to enjoy the look and convenience of working at a computer without wires.
Things can really get ugly if you work in your living room, if you've gotten yourself a sleek desk with no room for wires, or if you want to be able to use your computer in more than one place; spreading out on the dining table one day and curling up on the couch the next. When you want a workspace that disappears at the end of the day, wires can definitely be a problem.
After many delays getting to market, Belkin promises to finally release their Cable-Free USB hub this month.

*slobber* - the ultimate in clean living!
I couldn't believe that *dongle* was a real word - I had never heard that term before even though it's pretty easy to figure out what it means.
Anyway, DONGLE has its own wikipedia entry.
Nice! good post.
Great post!
Since my only computer is a laptop (with only 2 USB ports), this thing is godsend! Great for my phone/camera/external HD/printer
You are not alone, JenPDX.
Julie,
You read our minds, and our needs.
Sometimes my laptop is no longer "portable" because of all the extras attached to the USB ports (mini speaker, phone, camera, etc.)
This Belkin thing is a perfect solution.
Good post. Just one suggestion: is Belkin the first and only wireless USB hub, or are there other mfrs with similar products out there. If there are others, quick comparison would be great.
I don't want to spoil the fun, but this little device does have it's limitations. First and foremost, it *does* slow down your usb 2.0 speed, big time. It's fine for some simple peripherals but don't expect to sync your ipod within a jiffy. It can barely keep up with USB 1.x (the 'old' usb standard). Nevertheless, if that isn't a problem for you, than this is the perfect solution.
sigh
I hear so much about free cable on your computer but there is always the fine print, first pay this amount. Where is a site that has no fee's at all?
