Looks like a cheap knock-off. Seems like the manufacturer cut a few corners in the finishing. And the proportions seem off. (Maybe it's the angle of the photograph?) Lacks the elegance of the original design.

I'm not crazy about cowhide to start with, BUT if you're gonna' do it, then it looks best when you see the beauty of a larger piece. This looks like cheap leather patchwork...you know, like those fleamarket leather jackets they make out of scraps that have been stitched together. Ewww.
