There's something rather ikea-ish about the execution. I like the concept though.

I agree, with a twist. Cool concept, but the execution of it would make me feel totally uncomfortable sitting there. It feels a little claustrophobia-inducing (and I don't even suffer from it), and my body would be anticipating something falling from above. Eek! Maybe it might work better if the shelf was enclosed with translucent panels and the sides were perfectly vertical.

This seems like it would be at home in a rustic cabin in the woods maybe. I give it a "not hot" for a modern home though.

It's too barn-like for my tastes.
