The straight lines & beefy proportions of the LouisXVI-ish reeded-&-rosetted legs bear an uneasy relation to the bland, Louis VX-ish curves of the endpieces, and the upholstery on the ends has a weird puffiness to it, like a squished marshmallow. Or, worse, one of those creepy padded toilet seats. All that stuff adds up to a piece with an odd, out-of-time (and I don't mean timeless) look to it that's neither here nor there. $15K? No way.
But Gustavian style? You bet!

That's a $15000 not, but for $1500 it could have been hot.

For $150, it'd be downright torrid. Magnaverde has put a finger on why it looks weirdly like a DIY fixer-upper project waiting to happen.
boomer, I agree with you. The potential it holds makes it hot - changing either the fabric or the wood finish (or both) would make a world of difference.

I say "hot", but $15,000? Really? There had better be real swedes stuffed in there.

maryja -- just as long as it's not a left over danish. that would create a bed bug of a different sort.
on a less silly note, I like Gustavian even though for me personally it has a touch of Grandma's attic. However this example leaves me a bit cold.

If it were natural wood and not the overdone shabby-chic garbage, it might be appealing.
I gave it a "hot", not for how it looks now, but for how it looks in my mind with a complete makeover.

Gustavian style, yes; distressed finishes, yes; this particular daybed, no. NO.
