George Nelson designed the iconic Bubble Lamp in 1947. We’re used to seeing this illuminated orb in a wide range of styles and applications: pendant, floor lamp, wall mount, etc. But when we saw them in mist (bluish) and ivory (yellowish) we did a double take...
Let’s pose the question: can we get used to the color? Should they only be standard-issue white as Mr. Nelson designed it? Please vote!

While I prefer the original white, I don't mind the blue at all! The yellow I'd worry might just look old and discolored, but I wouldn't say for sure unless I saw it in real life. They're a little less iconic this way- and probably not as bright, but not too bad!

While I'd buy the white, the blue and yellow look great and are perfectly appropriate to time period they were invented. In fact, I'd like to see pink and brown just to even it out.

They look great grouped in the photo but, without the white and/or blue, I'd worry about the yellow just looking old and stained. The blue is lovely.

I don't mind the color - actually, the vintage ones will have become discolored and appear yellowish like the one shown above.

I have an original one of these; it looks very much like the yellow one.

Love the color! I would definitely get the blue.

The white may be "iconic," but it is also ubiquitous. I like the others a lot. And I wouldn't worry that the yellow would come across as a stained, worn-out white version. It's a pretty yellow yellow, and much more even than a discolored white shade would appear.

I love these, particularly the blue. In fact I WANT ONE! :)

the blue, so hot! the yellow seems to dress the lamp down a bit, but i actually don't mind. of course, it'd depend on the room i was putting together, but i can see myself buying all three of these. do they come in different color-shape combinations?

I'm surprised at my own reaction.
these are TERRIBLE
I guess it's the american virtue/vice of never leaving anything alone, of thinking everything is improvable
hence, sundried tomatoes in pesto
or Bob Fosse musicals not directed by Bob Fosse
remakes
these will date so fast, like bananas in a paper bag
thanks for the post, it just defined classic for me, and why a classic is a classic
